Recreating designer furniture to understand various manufacturing techniques.
The process started with developing drawings by referring to the visuals of the original furniture. Traditional hand skills were combined with these methods to take the prototype to its final stage. It was a challenge to achieve the same precision, which is easily obtained by the use of automated machinery. While making a clearer picture of the strengths and weaknesses of the material was identified
MARCEL BREUER B8 STOOL
Marcel Breuer designed B8 tubular steel stool and manufactured by Thonet in 1927. Breuer considered tubular material to be hygienic, affordable, elastic, comfortable, and well suited for modern life. The optimum use of primary tubular material was the most crucial aspect of this furniture. The materials were Mild steel pipe and canvas cloth.
CORD CHAIR - JACQUES GUILLON
Cord Chair was the Canadian Classic designed in 1953. It is a perfect balance of fragility and strength, which can be seen through the innovative use of cords as the seat and backrest. Teak wood and nylon thread were used for Cord Chair.
